Toshiba Satellite A200 notebook BIOS UPDATE v.1.50-WIN for Windows Vista

Before updating BIOS

You MUST have the AC Adapter connected to your notebook prior to updating the BIOS.  Failure to do so, may cause damage to the notebook if the notebook loses power and fails to complete the update process.

In the event of a power loss during the BIOS update process and your notebook no longer works, you will need to have your computer serviced by a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider (ASP). For an ASP location, please visit the Service Locator on this site.

Toshiba recommends the following steps before updating the BIOS:

• The AC adaptor and AC cord must be plugged in. Verify that the DC-IN LED is on.
• The machine MUST be in BOOT mode, not Resume mode.
• Any power on passwords must be disabled.
• Disconnect all peripheral devices from your computer.  Peripheral devices include, but are not limited to, docking devices (Desk Stations, port replicators), PCMCIA and CardBus cards, USB and IEEE 1394 devices, printers, scanners, digital cameras, etc.
• The notebook computer must not be attached to any type of docking device.

On some models, it is not unusual to see a CMOS checksum error when you first reboot the computer after installing the new BIOS. If you see this message on your screen, press the appropriate key as instructed to enter the CMOS settings.  Save the CMOS data and you won't see the CMOS checksum error again.
